Hollow Log Homes, was established as a business in February 1999, When a need for well researched, sturdily built nest boxes for Australian wildlife was identified.
Many of the nest boxes around were based on European or North American designs and while there were a few successes more often than not the existing nest boxes were poorly researched and poorly built.
Alan and Stacey set about researching Australian hollow dependent fauna and their habitat needs working in conjunction with Universities and Government Scientists they have established a comprehensive set of criteria for nest boxes for native wildlife.
All of the nest boxes on the ‘Hollow Log Homes’ lists have recorded nesting/denning of the target species.
As each new box is developed it is installed and monitored at several test sites around central and south east Queensland, Northern New south Wales and Victoria.
Research is an ongoing part of ‘Hollow Log Homes’ business with innovative ideas and new nest boxes being developed constantly.
